Ancillary Task: Magazine Poster Analysis 3
Here is a magazine poster of the female independant artist, Gwen Stefani. Gwen's representation and image of herself is seen quite ambiguious and out there, much like her style, videos and fashion sense. There is a 3 main colour scheme on this poster, mostly yellows, reds, whites and oranges. I think this shows how it is important to stick to a certain colour scheme, unless you do want to be a bit different and mix certain colours together. The layout we can see on this poster seems to be: The main image taking over the page, with Gwen as the main attraction. Undereath is the main masthead, which is the artists name. This is made bold and gold with a certain themed font, which both connotate richness and Gwen being seen as a queen. Hence the image consisting of her holding a crown. Underneath the masthead is the tagline, which is the name of the aritsts album, and beside that is an image of the album cover itself. This, to bear in mind, is a promotional poster for an actual album, so when thinking about my own advertisement, I could include the single from the album and write that, or I could just have the advert consist of promoting the single on its own. Other details which layout wise on this poster, are underneath the tagline, are singles which are included from the album, in this case popular ones 'What are you waiting for' and 'Walk it out' Underneath this, in the right corner, terms and conditions would be applied, and also the logo or name of the artists label. This is important as it comes under the insitution of the artist and represents their mark on the music industry.
