Ancillary Task: Magazine Poster Analysis 1

When analysing this poster from the british pop artist Lily Allen, we can see how it is structerly different from the other two posters, and the colour schemes vary from the other two posters I have anaylsed. The colour scheme and theme have gone well with the video itself, and anyone who has seen the video knows the mis en scene on the poster matches the mis en scene of what Lily was wearing in the video, from makeup to jewellery to outfits. The colour scheme has again stuck with 3 colours like the other two posters, red, black and white, which is again important as the audience arent being bombarded with colour, unless the artist wanted to create that sort of effect. These colours are also quite sophisticated, along with Lilys image in this poster. The layout is different from the other two, but more similar to Gwen Stefanis poster, with the the main image placed at the top of the page, but then the name of the artist is at the top left in a small font. This could be suprising as you'd expect the artists name to be plastered over the poster so the audience can see who it is about, but Lthis poster has done the opposite delibratley to show that you should already know who Lily Allen is without having to see her name. Unlike the other two posters, a small image of the album that the single comes from isnt placed on the poster. This makes the poster seem neater and easier to read, with the main attraction not being distracted by other pictures. Underneath the main image is the singles name, release date and any other information that is relevant, maybe being terms and conditions. These are outlined in red on a white background to stand out. Underneath that is the name of the record label, and other small print that may be needed. These are in a smaller font indicating that they are not as important. The font for the writing other than the single name are written in a bold, simple font, which carries on the theme of a simple poster. The font used for the name of the single is quite different, as it is a more 1950's , retro font, which again if you have seen the video, makes a lot of sense why it has been chosen, as it carries on the main image Lily wanted to show the audience. This shows continuity, making it important for every element of a promotional package matches the image created from your music video.
